Bridge the knowledge gap to better kidney care

Your kidneys remove wastes and extra fluid from your body. Your kidneys also remove acid producing by the cells of your body and maintain a healthy balance of water, salts, and minerals. Without this balance, organs in our body may lose their normal function.

Chronic kidney disease is common: 1 out of 10 adult people worldwide have it, and if left untreated it can be deadly. Early detection allows for management to help prevent morbidity and mortality. Kidney disease related mortality continues to increase yearly and is projected to be the 5th leading cause of death by 2040. The growing capability of and access to technology provides new opportunities to enhance awareness of kidney disease for all stakeholders. Advances in telecommunication, including social media platforms, can be leveraged to enhance persons’ and providers’ education; The World Kidney Day declares 2022 as the year of “Kidney Health for All” to promote global teamwork in advancing strategies in bridging the gap in kidney health education and literacy.
